Course applications
Relevant and reliable training that meets the demand for increasingly sophisticated communication skills.
This course focuses on the core skills necessary to produce technical and editorial content for organisations and entities. You will learn about how the process of technical writing is underpinned by a primary purpose: to structure information for a specific group of people who want to achieve a particular goal or realise a unique outcome. You will learn how technical writing is a five-step process that begins with clarification of purpose, then moves on towards research, planning, and contextual analysis — a formidable approach for audience clarity and thought leadership.
Technical writing operates on assumptions of primarily long-form communication. While this may be the norm, it is not standard operating procedure. The idea of H2H (human-to-human) communication is often lost in technical environments. Nonetheless, there is emphasis — now more than ever — on humanising technical communication through emotion-centered editorial design. Ultimately, consumers bring just as many emotions and expectations to technical documents as any content process, and producers of such documents therefore have unique opportunities to enculturate audiences into their branded environments.
